Santa Maria Delle Grazie, Milan Reviews
Definitely a must! If you come to Milan you should visit Santa Maria. Besides Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II is in the same Piazza, which as well is beautiful. During my visit the line for entering the church was shorter at 3:00 pm, the line for going up was fast and the view is worth it and it is amazing to imagine how it was built.
Good place to visit. Early morning booking (ours was 8.45) was nice and quiet, no crowds and pleasant place to wait in the square in front of the church. Lockers are available in ticket office. Nice to walk around the church (open after 9) and small courtyard behind but shoulders and knees must be covered, they had disposable kimonos for €1.
Stunning, 15 minutes to view. Excellent guide with in-depth knowledge as you would expect. Listen and learn. There's 2 paintings to view and both are simply stunning.
Tried to book online - all sold out for the next three months. Tried calling the phone number provided - no luck! And today we landed up in the morning anyway - and miracle - we got three tickets for 5:30 pm today!! Nothing new to say about The Last Supper. Just knowing that I shared the same space that the maestro once did is a major high in itself. The crucifixion fresco on the opposite wall of The Last Supper was equally amazing. The guide was very knowledgeable and explained A LOT MORE than Google had told me. The church itself is very nice too. Probably not one of the most ornately decorated ones in Italy but it is very nice and peaceful and comforting. The brick structure outside hides the gothic architecture inside - that probably is quite unique. The dome does not look like a dome from outside - it's quite cleverly designed. That is another unique feature of the church. People were very helpful too. Just leave your attitude at home and be humble - and they treat you awesomely. Overall, I couldn't have asked for more. Grazie, team Santa Maria delle Grazie.
Beautiful place. Recommended for family vacations, honeymoon or just a getaway. Lots to do and see.
