Gumuskesen Monument is a place for historical and archaeological significance in Milas. It is a replica of the The Mausoleum at Halicarnassus or Tomb of Mausolus located in Bodrum, Turkey, which was built between 353 and 350 BC for Mausolus, a governor of the ancient Persian empire. This tomb was constructed in 2nd century AD, and was a tomb of a prominent personality. It is a typical mausoleum, and has a total of 8 pillars.Though it is a miniature version of the original, it is a marvelous sight to behold, and in excellent condition. It is surrounded by a park which offers several shaded benches to visitors.
