This tower which is now a hotel is a 32 storey building that was built inspired from the Washington Tower. It was the tallest building after it was built and remained so until the IDS Center was built in 1972. It is not only one of the finest examples of engineering and architecture but also the example of conspicuous consumption during the boom period of US.

The building was later listed in The National Register of Historic Places in 1978. This was a dream project of Wilbur Foshay who was an artist turned businessman and the founder of 3 large business empires. When he decided to build his 3rd he came up with the idea of setting up his office in the 27th and 28th floors of this tower.

Apart from all these the tower also has a platform that is opened to the public as a watch deck from where we can get a breath panoramic view of the whole city.

  • The hotel is in the Foshay which is a landmark in itself in the heart of downtown Minneapolis. Getting to the hotel was a breeze and right off of the main freeway. I recommend the valet who were quite friendly and very helpful getting belongings to our suite. The WOW suite was amazing and staff was exceptionally accommodating on our stay. We will be back, and highly recommend.

  • Beautiful lobby. We were just going to the museum and observation deck, but were still impressed, the place seemed posh and the service was good. Museum was more interesting than expected... Murder-suicide, fraud, and intrigue surround the completion of the tower, and they don't hide it from you. It's worth a visit, and I would consider getting a room next time I'm there.

  • First time at a w hotel. Very glitzy lobby, nice rooms. Quite an expensive honor bar and room service (but breakfast was delicious). Tower museum and observation deck were awesome! Great location and friendly staff.

  • Wow. What a great hotel and a great view. The hotel is very modern and contemporary and is conveniently located downtown. It is also one of the most historic buildings in Minneapolis. The observation deck on the top floor offers maybe the best view of Minneapolis of any building. If you are not staying at the hotel, just ask the hotel desk for a key to access the top floor museum and observation deck. They are very friendly and the cost is only $10, but it is well worth it.

  • I went to the keys bakery and was very happy with the experience. I went by myself but they seated me at a four person table. I received excellent service and really enjoyed the food.
