This bridge was built by James J. Hills in 1882- 83 and is a former railroad bridge. It is the only bridge made of stone over the whole length of Mississippi River and the 2nd oldest next to Eads Bridge. The bridge connects the Father Hennepin Bluff’s Park on the East bank of the river and the Mill City Museum and West River Parkway on the West bank.
The bridge later turned into a pedestrian as well as cycling and biking bridge. It also serves as a watch deck from where you can get a spectacular view of the St. Anthony Falls. The bridge is a National Civil Engineering Landmark and is maintained by the Minnesota Department of Transportation.
