Belarusians are very connected to their roots no matter how much progress they make in terms of lifestyle and technology. The State Museum of Architecture and Rural Life tries to present the country in its rural setting, quite alike from the cosmopolitan Minsk. This open-air museum is a village just a few minutes away from the national capital. The buildings here have been influenced from the building traditions found all over the country. Humans do not actually live here but the houses have been furnished with all the traditional rural equipments and household items. There are mills, barns, a church, theatre, and even a tavern in this museum. Of these, the tavern is active and visitors often have snacks or lunch here. Visitors can get a chance to make their very own Belarusian souvenirs in the museum workshops.
