One of the landmarks that is witness to the cultural scene of Belarus is the National Art Museum. This museum has one of the biggest art collections in Eastern Europe. In fact, at any given time, only a small fraction of the collection is out on display. Most of the objects are kept safely under protection as there is not enough space on display to accommodate them all. The collections are divided into categories like ancient Belarusian art, art in the 19th century and that in the 20th century, etc. Items from the Second World War too have found a place of pride in the collections. Some of the objects have been sourced from other historical museums from all over Belarus. This museum is a one-stop destination to know about the various artistic practices of the country. The current building has been designed by Vitaly Belyankin.
