Great Patriotic War Museum, Minsk Reviews
Excellent museum! Very new and modern look that shows WWII in nice detail and from the perspective of the Belarusian people. Also very nice to see the entire! facility wheelchair accessible! Definitely place this on your Minsk itinerary!
It was an awesome experience. Breathtaking structure. Very informative with life like structures depicting the war. The English audio guide is cool even though almost every exhibit was described in English. The surrounding park plus the victory fountain was nice too.
Qualitative museum with a lot of original pieces in the exhibitions. We had the audiotour in English and it is recommendable, although it contains very long talks of information (in so so spoken English) and it told more about the history than the actual pieces behind the glass. Most of it is papers, photographs, little personal items and there are a few bigger items like tanks and clothes (even a couple of planes). We spent approximately 2 hours in here because we were filled up on nationalistic interpretations of all the historic facts. Tip: read about the history of the country Belarus and the cold War in particular before entering: it hands down a frame for all the information in the museum. The staff is really friendly and speaks enough English to help you out to get started. Despite the colored images it depicts, worth the visit of you're in Minsk.
Great place to dive into the history of the Second World War. The guides are super knowlegeable. Lots of artifacts. But the cafe in the museum is very decent, so if you feel hungry afterwards, think of some other place.
One of the first places you should definitely see, visiting Minsk! History is something everyone should be familiar with! This place can not leave you indifferent and emotionless! Some things are very interesting and exciting, some - hard to imagine and understand.
