Another biker trail! 4X4 can do it too, so long they have seriously high ground clearance, are powerful and can really manage all terrains; look up the specifications. The trail head starts from the Potash Road, close to the Dinosaur Tracks sign. Various detailed guides on how to handle each section of the trail can be found online. What you should otherwise know is that it is a serious challenge both mentally and physically - sand, cobbles, rock ledges, slick stone - four miles climbing about 1000 feet to the Poison Spider Mesa - a 13 mile loop with a total grueling 1000 feet ascent. The slick rocks sections will be marked with painted jeeps. Then you can either follow the jeep track back, go back the way you came or take the freaky thrilling descent on the Portal Trail (experienced bikers only! Careless people die here)! On the way, expect to be taking many, many photographs of the jaw dropping sights, and even more at the top of the Mesa.
