The Duomo di Modena aka the Modena Cathedral is a sacred place of worship and is listed with the UNESCO World Heritage Site as an exceptional example of the cultural tradition. The construction of the Cathedral began on May 23 in 1099 under the guidance of famous architect Lanfranco. The architecture is a beautiful blend of Italian Gothic style and Romanesque designs. Within the Duomo (cathedral) is a museum which has on display works of art, furnishings and wallpaper which the cathedral has used over the years since its construction.
