We went to Cava di Ispica this morning intending to walk the 13 klm valley that stretches from Modica to Ispica. The start of the walk is not properly sign posted and the path itself is very rough boulders almost impossible to walk on. We tried it for 30 minutes and gave up. Piles of rubbish here and there added to the unpleasant experience.
4€ tickets and half the park is closed. No signs, no explanations. Not worth really worth it. But the larderia snd other caves really do have something to them.
One of the most unpleasant experiences I've ever had. The whole site is dirty and unsafe. There are no signs but you can find plenty of trash. The only sign you'll find everywhere is the one saying that you're not supposed to hold on to the handrails because it's dangerous. A total waste of time and money.
Interesting archeological area.
Interesting to see some of the caves and to ponder what it was like to carve out those rooms and live in them. The descriptions on the signs were somewhat informative, the trails were in poorly maintained condition getting overrun by weeds and the area you are able to visit is pretty small compared to the length of the valley. If it were along the way i'd probably stop but certainly wouldn't go out of my way to visit.
