A museum which showcases the history of Mont St. Michel, you can see wax statues which depict the life in the abbey including Monks and later prisoners. The exhibits include elements which were used for torture during the medieval times. Not for the faint hearted, the place is enjoyed best if you know French.
If you love to get scared then simply walk through the exhibits here anyway.

Wonderful visit! Be ready to climb steps like there's no tomorrow. Guided visits are totally worth any wait - you can see how most of the guides love the place and it's history. If you're visiting and aren't sure if the abbey visit is worth your money I can assure you of you're a history or architecture nerd it definitively is!
the history, the old town feel, the amazing view. i would have loved to trudge through the mud around the abbey in low tide but unfortunately had too little time. Would be best to stay the whole day or two to witness the changing of the tides. Going to the top most point of the abbey also gives a fascinating glimpse of normandy.
Spectacular place! I recommend to wear something very comfortable and spend a good few hours on walking around the village. You will find picturesque views at every step you make. Visiting the Abbey is a must. The tickets are sold at its entrance and are about €8 per adult. Audioguides are free! Even on a cold and rainy November day the place was packed with tourists including all the food places. There's a shuttle bus running between the parking and the village. A walk may take up to 40 minutes. Enjoy ;)
Mont St. Michel is a MUST SEE for anyone and, particularly, French history aficionados! Don't let the crowds change your mind. We didn't quite make it to the very top of the Abby but every step of the trek to the top gives another spectacular view of the area. Immerse yourself in the history of the site to make it even more memorable. You might also check out "La Mere Poulard" restaurant near the entrance. Locals say it is very famous (and very expensive.)
Its a nice place to visit. You can take a free shuttle bus from the parking lot to the place. There are lots of shops and restaurants all along the way to the monastery. Its a favorite tourist destination so you might be stuck in crowds. However, its a must see place in France.
