Museum Of History, Mont Saint- Michel Reviews
Fantastic place to visit. The buildings are absolutely gorgeous and appear untouched and take you back to a different era. The Abby is the absolute highlight and I would recommend allowing plenty of time to really explore this beautiful building. The whole area is visually stunning and my recommendation would be to go during the winter when the crowds are nonexistent. The free shuttle bus is a huge help!
This is a must visit destination! Probably one of the most French area that you will ever visit. This is where the French go and services reflect this fact. Highways leading to this island are in good shape, adequate parking with linking shuttle bus service. The pricing of food and snacks is much more competitive than destinations visited heavily by foreign tourists. The cathedral is spectacular and oozes with over a thousand years of history. You haven't really visited France until you have come here.
Free shuttle runs until 11pm, tourism office has NO luggage storage as of 2015( even though it’s on the back of brochure) for day travelers, but you can at hotel if you eat there. Stay the night is better. Find the high tide time and be there for that whole hour+ feel the power of the sea swallowing the castle! At the time of my visit it was 8-9 pm and about 8-9am. Night time walk around and through the cemetery is uncrowded just lovely;-) and all free! Sit on the castle side once for the hour long tide and stand on the bridge once. It’s a little duller with the bridge side as crowds waiting together and wooing over the sprinting wave at you. Evening tide was way more dramatic with the castle light up, and hearing the pounding breath whistling up through the drains. You can also bike over the tide if you are set on not getting wet up to the ankles during high tide.
Just incredible. The full experience of joining the bridge, going inside the castle, walk through the little and historical streets and at the end the official tour. You fell like in the past, like in a series as Game of Thrones. Lots of corners fulfilled with history. The view from everywhere in this place is amazing. Probably the best pictures you'll have in you album. Absolutely a must visit place! 5 stars is just to little for this place.
Would have given five stars, but with the enormous amount of tourists, you can barley walk and discover the island and abbey at your own pace. Especially in the abbey you cannot freely move. The abbey itself is wonderful, just as the island and absolutely worth the visit. Stunning craftsmanship! Parking and traveling (by foot or by free bus) is arranged neatly.
