St Michaels Hill - National Trust Reviews & Ratings
The walk up to the folly at the top of the hill gives a good sense of occasion. You can then climb the steep spiral staircase in the tower. There are great views from the internal top floor windows - you can't get outside. There is no handrail on the stairs so younger children (or unsteady adults) will need a bit of supervision.
A lovely quiet and historic place. Enjoyed by our family on holiday for week. Would highly recommend....
Lovely dog walk in the nature, you can climb up to the tower that apparently was built by the family that built montacute house to show their power. The hill was an ancient medieval fort according to a volunteer that was around today.
You can actually climb all the way up the spiral staircase to the top of the tower and there are some amazing views to be had. Plenty of graffiti all the way up the walls too, inside and out. My favourite was, 'Who lives in a pineapple under the sea?', but that's just my silliness I guess? 😂
Always get some lovely views up here.
