L'Abbaye De Fontenay Reviews & Ratings
Serene historic site. Stay a while and absorb the ancient atmosphere.
Amazing cistercian abbey full of history and beautiful well preserved/restored buildings with one of the oldest forges in Europe
Calm, very well maintained gardens. Facilities are well in place. Not too many people. One of the few UNESCO sites in Bourgogne.
Magnificent, peaceful, beautiful. The architecture and preservation will stun you. The grounds are an absolute must see. You hear gregorian chant as you walk through, making you feel like you are back in the day when the monastery was alive.
Peaceful and beautiful. Plus some interest for the technically minded - the oldest? forge. Water wheel driven stamp in a Cistercian monastery. An example to all of how a preservation project should be done
