Originally belonging to the Barrett family, the Greenwood Great House is a must-see for antique lovers and those wanting to experience a slice of 19th Century Jamaica. The house is set in a beautifully manicured garden and the top floor veranda affords the visitor a panoramic view of the Caribbean Sea, with the curvature of the earth clearly visible. The house is virtually the same as it was 200 years ago as it is well maintained and hasn’t needed much restoration. The current owners still occupy the property and often greet visitors and give them the tour.

It is extensively decorated with an array of exotic treasures and furniture. The vast antique collection includes a library of old and rare books, oil paintings of the Barrett family and original Wedgwood china wear.

One of the other highlights is the collection of musical instruments and two polyphones, which are fired up and demonstrated for visitors as part of the tour.
