Three days tours. A long weekend. That is all you need to take in the charming delights of Monterey and come away happy. The city is one of California’s most unassumingly beautiful. It is rich in activities, sightseeing, culture and history.
European ships that first tried to land here found themselves dashed on the rocks. The Spaniards came over land and made the city a part of Mexico, the capital of Alta California. After the American-Mexican war, when America gained control of these lands, it was here that the constitution of California was drafted, and the state accepted into the USA.
Today the city is famous for a few standout sightseeing factors its exceptional beauty of its natural environment; the boundless numbers and bold behaviours of the sea otters, sea lions, and seals; the many John Steinbeck novels that were set here; the outdoorsy people; and the world class Aquarium.
