Curi Cancha Reserve, Monteverde Reviews
Peaceful unguided hike with plenty of wildlife. Butterflies, birds & spider monkeys. We arrived at 11:30am. Hiked for 2 hours. Had the place to ourselves. We came upon a group of 8-10 spider monkeys as a gentle rain started. We walked along as they swung from tree to tree. Amazing, though the monkeys would be hard to spot if they were not moving. When we arrived, tour guide Jorge was just finishing with a group. They were effusive about his tour. He had great pictures and seemed delightful. Unguided hike is $15, and a guided tour is $35 (tours at 8am & 1pm). There is also a night walk at 5:30pm for $20. Enjoy.
This is the best place on the area for bird watching plus the entrance fee is cheaper than the other parks.
We went at around 11am without a guide and didn't see a great deal of wildlife. Go earlier and pay the extra for a guide who will be able to spot the birds in the canopy. A fantastic place to enjoy nature!
I loved my guided tour here with Jorge. I had signed up the evening before in an agency in Santa Elena after visiting the Monteverde cloud forest that day on my own and not seeing any wildlife. Such a good decision as I saw a lot, even the rare Quetzal, and learned so much.
A fantastic nature reserve with good opportunities to see a range of animals and different trees. The walk is not demanding and with well marked paths it's easy to get around. There are plenty of guides who provide tours here, is best if you can find a small group to go with.
