Visit a nature reserve like Ecological Sanctuary which is mostly characterized by the tropical forest. Hiking is the most practiced activity here due to the existence of many natural trails through the old-growth woods. A number of wild animals and birds inhabit the site and hence you will notice some of those during hiking. There is a hanging bridge which lies between Dry Forest and Cloud Forest that helps you to get access to the other end of the forest. The view of the two waterfalls, banana plantation and coffee plantation in the Ecological Sanctuary will be like an additional treat for you.

Ecological Sanctuary Reviews & Ratings

  • This is an amazing place! I was part of a student tour of Costa Rica and we brought 14 high school students to dinner here. Chris and his family were incredibly welcoming and so much fun! We all had a blast and learned so much about Costa Rican culture, coffee and sustainability. I would recommend this place everybody! While you are there, be sure to have Chris make you a cup of coffee, it's the best I've ever had!

  • The owners are so friendly. This farm is more that just a farm it's a loving Pura Vida culture. We learned more than we thought possible about coffee, the guide was extremely personable and friendly. Best coffee tour one can do

  • Amazing trails with beautiful views of valleys and waterfalls. Great service as well.

  • Beautiful nature trails and vistas. These people care deeply about nature and the earth, and you should support them in their endeavors. They also run a variety of classes and an AirBnB, which were also fantastic. Up your game when visiting Monteverde and support these gracious people. Muchas gracias, Familia, para todo.

  • Lovely, small family-run business with intimate tours for small groups. We loved the coffee tour and Nigel the dog
