Six months ago today, my wife and I were very fortunate to spend several afternoon hours walking the well-constructed paths of the wondrous Santa Elena Reserve. We were guided by Everth, who was outstanding - friendly, skillful, and knowledgeable: he informed us regarding the ecosystems that we were traversing, pointed out to us plants and creatures that we would not have noticed without his aid, gave us opportunities to view distant sights through the powerful telescope that he carried, and called to members of several bird species, who answered him. We cherish greatly the memory of this walk, and we recommend the experience to other travelers.
Amazing hiking experience in a lush rain forest. Bring a rain coat, since it's extremely humid. They have a multitude of trails, varying from 1 to 5 km, so you can pick and choose and combine, depending on how much time you want to spend here. Also, you can either simply hike or get a guided tour. Unforgettable experience.
Really beautiful reserve. We took the self guided walk and spent most of the day wandering happily through a few of the trails.
I passed the whole day here and let me tell you, it was worth every dollar spent for the entrance fee. There are different trails for you to do, depending on the time you want to pass there and your physical condition. Some trails looked more like a side walk and others more natural and mudy. If you want to see many different plants and have a nice walk in the forest it is your place. I was really enchanted by this park. I strongly recommend it.
We loved it here. We had a great tourguide who knows like everything!
