Reserva Bosque Nuboso Santa Elena, Monteverde Reviews - Write a Review
We found this place online due to hearing people say montiverde National Park was overcrowded and expensive. We took the biggest trail and by surprise it was really in the jungle! The path was super narrow and not super maintained (being a +) in our book! It was super muddy but hey it rains here everyday, wear rubber boots or rent ones they have!!! Only took off one star due to not seeing a single animal besides one type of fowl. The office attendant swore up and down we would see more but we kept our eyes pealed.
The caño negro trail was absolutely awesome!! My father and I both think, that this was exactly the experience we wanted, when we said lets get a jungle adventure. We were there when it was raining pretty heavily and it was awesome! Nearly no people (we saw three other persons while walking for four hours). Also the caño negro trail wasn't a trail like others, it was a very small naturepath (about 20cm up to 60cm) with mud, sticks, and everything. It was simply awesome!!
Great experience of wildlife. You can see the vulcan arenal in the distance and fast amounts of flora
Nice cloud forest; haven‘t seen many animals though
Nice Place! Several routes you can go with oder w/o guide to see the very unique cloud-forest. Price is fair and neary nobody was there in the low season (just met one couble in the park). Ways are good for normal shoes and there ist a observation-tower. There is also a cafeteria at the entrance. The approach to the park by car ist not easy (would recommend 4WD and some time). But I read they pick you up at Monteverde for a low price.
