Do you wish to have a private booze party far from the city crowd where none or no outer sound will bother you? The Velvet Speakeasy is such a place tucked beneath the old Montreal Inn inside Auberge Saint Gabriel hostel. This out of the world night club has been in this place since 1754, though not as a club or bar and now as you visit, you will feel the smell of the ancient while traversing the damp stone catacomb with the club usher. As you reach the basement, you will be bewitched with the candle lit and semi-smoky atmosphere where people sway happily at the dance floor. Velvet Speakeasy is visited by the renowned local and regional DJs, artists, fashionistas and the spirited youth and you will find everything exotic and sensuous here.

  • Great music and drinks. Gets live at night! awesome crowd.

  • Love this place! The bar had the most amazing drinks and the music was awesome! Best last night in Montreal!

  • BEWARE Went there to see a friend DJ, left my drink on the shelf in front of the booth to dance 3-4 feet away. I saw a guy put something in my drink. When I confronted him, it was denied and he offered to buy me a new drink. I went to see the closest bouncer to point him out, to which the bouncer replied “don’t worry it’s chill, he used to work here” when I got agitated about it I was shoved and told to leave. BEWARE

  • The place is nice bit the music is horrible. Its just corny house music that no one can dance on.

  • A cool space. Liked the fact that they play Techno. Doesn't make sense you're there for dinner and spend 300 dollars but stilm have to pay $10 admission. The fog machine is an overkill when it's on all night. I ordered two drinks, paid with a credit card and pulled cash out to give the bartender. Before i gave the cash i was rudely told that "tip isn't included in the drink price". I don't know if people don't leave tips, or management tells her to say that. Whatever the case it's rude. Would check it out again, but not my first go to for a night out.
