The State Tretyakov Gallery Reviews & Ratings

  • A very interesting collection of art, in fact one of the largest (if not the largest) collections in all of Russia. While a lover of the arts will find him/herself intrigued by everything here, you REALLY have to like art to go here. To see everything it takes a good 3-4 hours if you take your time, so please be considerate of the members of your party (whether they be kids, colleagues, or spouses) who aren't as interested with paintings, sculptures, and the like and do not take them with you.

  • Moscow's No.1 museum, it should not be missed if you are visiting Moscow. Be prepared for long line at entry and a VERY thorough security check. But it's definetely worth it, for it houses the best of Russian art, including the pieces you can spend literally hours admiring at. Pack the whole day, and you still will not see all it has to offer.

  • Very beautiful museum and art gallery, but if you don’t want to waste 2-3 hours in the queue, you’d better order tickets at least 2-3 days before the alleged visit. But pay attention to what kind of tickets you buy, for there are tickets for separate collections. The main collection of paintings is very big and there are many famous artworks.

  • I found this place to be such an eye opener highlighting the skilled artists of Russia through the various centuries. It is a must visit place when in Moscow to appreciate the local culture. Be sure to use a local guide to get maximum value.
