The natural wonder of the sinkhole which is forged from millennia of acidic groundwater is an extraordinary thing to discover. It was created when the top of the chamber fell on the floor of the cave and it was ideal to turn it into a ‘sunken garden’. It is one of the Australia major tourist’s attractions and all those who visit Mount Gambier must visit here especially with their children.
Interesting geological creation indeed, and Mt Gambier is never short of it! This sinkhole is so well decorated from top to bottom! Mt Gambier boasts a few decorated sinkholes and underground caving swimming system! They vary from simple to complicated ones! Dr Richard Harris, the Adelaide anaesthetic specialist who helped to rescue the 12 young footballers (wild boar) from a cave in Thailand in July 2018), frequents the town for his underground caving training.
Wow wow wow. Stunning and mesmerizing views. This is an amazing place that easily you could spend hours in and enjoy the magnificent views. One of the best places that I have visited in Australia.
This is one of the most beautiful places I have ever been to. The gardens are just perfectly maintained and the flowers are just sublime and the scent of the garden is so refreshing. The walk down into the sinkhole is so interesting as you can see bee hives way up in the stones and as you walk down your shaded by beautiful vines that drape the surrounding area of the sinkhole. Once your down the bottom its just stunning. The beauty of this place is like your on a tropical island. I highly recommend you visit this place, no photo does it justice abd there are some amazing photos around.
A must see for all people that are lovers of gardens and gardening it's very peaceful easy walk to such a wonderful location. Has BBQs just up at the top of the gardens and a lovely Shady grassed area to sit and have a lunch has a small Cafe just near the car park may have trouble parking with caravans close to the area but small buses should be fine to be able to get in and Park. Just stunning
Highly recommend. Beautifully landscaped open areas with the sinkhole as it's main attraction. This is a must see, even if it means going off course. The kids enjoyed feeding the friendly possums.
