Montgomery County History Museum is a small yet fascinating place where you can easily spend an hour. The displays are neatly exhibited in a limited space and successfully cover everything from early settlements in this area to the history of new train depot at Mt Sterling. Some displays also explain about the First World War and how this town was in the early 1900s. Even the building of the museum dates back to 1897 and has played an important role in local history. Coming here will give you a chance to understand Mt Sterling better.
Montgomery County History Museum Reviews & Ratings
Nestled in the middle of town, this little museum has quite a bit of content. It's only open on the weekend and isn't a huge space; however it's definitely worth checking out if you're interested in history or want to know more about the local area. The folk there were super friendly and extremely knowledgeable!
Such a neat place to visit. I enjoyed learning about the Indian Mounds that are all around town. I recommend this place for a quick mid day getaway for history buffs or kids.
Found this place on the internet and emailed them to ask about an old relative from the early 1800s. Not only did they recognize the name, they had a family file on them. My wife and I went there on the 15th and had a great time visiting with the staff and viewing all the displays. If you ever had family in Montgomery Co, KY, you need to visit these great folks. Thanks again!
Its a very interesting place to visit. I will be back to visit again.
