Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Vastu Sangrahalaya Museum, Mumbai Reviews
One of my favourite cultural points in Mumbai. It boasts a vast collection spanning across multiple floors. The audio-guide is a great tool to enhance your experience of soaking history. You can avail it near ticket counter in three languages - Hindi, Marathi and English. There is also a decent canteen. To do justice to the collection there and to your visit earmark one whole day. I highly recommend it for lay persons and especially localities to get a mighty slice slice of history. You will return home expanded in not only in historical information but also intellect and aesthetic thinking.
A beautiful collection of various ancient as well as royal arts. Most amazing part of the museum is the animals and bird collection where almost real looking wide species of animals are kept in glass chambers. Also google has made several exhibitions in this museum. A must visit place , well maintained ..
Museum was very well maintained.. worth a visit. bathroom very clean too.. whereas found some staffs very rude. And cafeteria was also not good. Food was bad and also the waiter forgot to serve our half order and bought bill. When after asked for the rest they served half cooked and bad taste food. Cafeteria was disappointing.
Keep aside 3 - 4 hours if you want to take an absorbing tour of this museum. It has a really good collection of our history. You get a quick brush up of the culture and our heritage as Indians. There is a cafe but is barely stocked. The lawn outside the museum is a nice place to soak in all you inside the museum. For souvenirs there is a Gift shop which is small but has a decent collection of handicrafts.
Its a great place to go adults as well as for kids. They keep having different programs and activity's for kids . Kalaghoda children's art installations are also a part of it. This happens during February month. During this time they have the maximum activities for kids and almost 25 installations made by kids from different schools. It's worth having a look. They have clean washrooms. They also have a souvenir shop.
