Flora Fountain - Review

Flora Fountain is also known as 'Hutatma Chowk' since 1960 amongst the locals and people with an interest in history. It was declared as one of the Heritage structures of the country. It was built in 1864 and this tourist spot is the house to one of India's most prestigious fountains of India and is located in the very famous Mumbai. The name 'Flora' is actually a derivation of the Roman Goddess Flora whose name means flowers. This Fountain was made under the supervision of Agri-Horticultural society of Western India. The total expense of construction is said to be around 47,000 Rupees and further developed because Cursetjee Fardoonjee Parekh donated Rs. 20,000 for the fountain's betterment. It is also known as Hutatma Chowk because that is the main square wall within which the monument is constructed. It is also one of the main hubs for commercial activities. You will find many prestigious institutes, such as the famous Bombay University, Gateway of India and Bombay Stock Exchange bordering the Flora fountain. The best time to see this fountain is definitely at night as it offers the most exquisite view to tourists because its completely lit up!

  • “Flora fountain was constructed in the year 1864 “ and named after Roman Goddess Flora. A beautiful statue of Flora, the Roman Goddess is seen at the top. It is one of the Heritage structures of India. The other heritage constructions around Flora Fountain are Gateway of India, Central Telegraph Office, Bombay High Court and a lot more. If you were to visit Flora fountain do not miss visiting the place in the evening to see the beautifully lit fountain.

  • Hands down the best place to buy books. New books, old books, common books, rare books, novels, textbooks- you name it, they have it. I bet no one can find a better place to buy books. And the books are so cheap! Even if compared with online bookshops (where it's reasonably cheaper than real bookstores), you will find you save a lot more money here. And these sellers know their books- they are willing to help you find the book you're looking for in those heaps and heaps of books. 10/10!

  • It is a beautiful round-about with a fountain (dedicated to the goddess Flora) in the heart of thr business district of Mumbai. It is surrounded by Colonial and Bombay art-deco type buildings. This is bustling place with pavement shops selling a wide assortment of stuff. It's a good place for shopping (bargaining/negotiating with price is a must), or if one wants to soak up the spirit of old "Bombay". The fountain itself doesn't run always but is a beautiful work of art. Also to the east of the fountain is Horniman circle and garden: a beautiful and quite place amidst the din of the city and to the west is the famed Marine drive.

  • A really good place for bookworms to find new,old and 1st copy of books as well as original secondhand copies of books.Other than novels they do keep books on commerce, current affairs, biographies, general aptitude and others to name a few a must visit 😍

  • " Perfect place for hangout .. great atmosphere at evening... So beautiful . It feels really good here. You can enjoy quality time with your friends and family".
