Jijamata Udyan Zoo ( Ranichi Baug ) Tour Reviews
Went today Mar 11,2017. Decent trip. Closest station on Western (using Maps) - Mahalaxmi. 8rs bus to Byculla West. Cross over and u reach Zoo on Byculla East. Opens at 9am. Could see 3 large 1 baby hippopotamus, many different kind of birds, deers (antelope), sambar, 2 elephants, blue bull, python. All in all a decent trip. Dont carry food items. Use water bottles (not bottled water Bisleri etc). Later went to Museum - Varied handicraft and ancient artefacts worth watching.
It's more of a park than zoo. Very few animals and birds are kept here. Main attractions obviously are penguins. However they were not even moving when we visited. There was a TV by the side of enclosure which showed how they play etc . It was supposedly there resting time ! No photography allowed inside. Other prominent animals are hippopotamus, crocodile (saw only one) , few birds and spotted deer. There are more animals on display outside the zoo than inside. Water bottles and food items are not allowed which is a real dampener. Tupperware bottles are allowed however. It's a good move to keep the zone plastic free however there has to be adequate facilities inside which is missing. Another thing missing was vehicle tour which are common in these kind of places. A non polluting tour vehicles is a good options considering the zoo is spread over a large area. Good place for kids, there is a play area inside the zoo.
Firstly, not a zoo. Zoo is where one can discover animals of variate species with different features. It is more of a big park where you can enjoy the beauty of nature and breathe fresh air. A variety of bird species exist here. It's a good place for bird watching. It can be fun too since these birds are really unique. When it comes to the restrictions, water bottles and food isn't allowed inside the park and is confiscated on the entry point. Penguins are a real treasure but they don't even move when one would watch them. The officers straight away shout at the visitors to move even when it's less than 5 mins. They probably need to learn about how to talk since there's a need to pay respect to local as well as foreign visitors.
It's under maintenance presently.. i visited here in October 2018. Hardly any animals. The directions are misleading. The only thing i liked was the museum. I miss the old zoo when i was a kid. Hope they renovate soon. Eagerly waiting
Veermata Jijabai Bhosale Udyan is incredible, but God is much more glorious and greater, & Jesus Christ is the only way to eternal life. Accept Christ and be saved today ! Fellow Christians pass it on !
Wednesday the zoo be closed It's good for family and friends and children too 50 RS ticket it's not that worth for but 25/30 would be better. There are animals to watch and nice place to roam and even good for pre wedding or normal photography. I would recommend you to go on weekdays because on weekend the zoo be full crowded.
