The Mumba Devi Temple is a sacrosanct journey spot and a place of love for Hindus and is hence visited daily by several individuals. It is not conventional for guests of Mumbai to necessariy pay their regards at Mumbadevi but yet it is one of the well known traveler objectives in the city. It is an old Hindu site of worship in the city of Mumbai and is devoted to the goddess Mumba, the neighborhood incarnation of the Devi or Mother Goddess. Marathi Mumba infers from Sanskrit Maha-Amba Great Mother, and Mumbai consolidates the name with the Marathi word for the mother. The goddess Mumba was supportive of the Algeria or the salt authorities and Calais who were the fisherfolk, and they were the definitive tenants of the seven islands of Bombay. She is portrayed as a dark stone form in the sanctuary. The sanctuary of Mumbadevi, once stood on the site of the present Victoria Terminus in the focal island which was called Mumbai. The sanctuary was the inherent humor of Mumbadevi, the benefactor goddess of the Koli anglers accepted to be the definitive tenants in Mumbai. The definitive sanctuary was annihilated and another sanctuary was raised in its place at Bhuleshwar. The closest station is Marine Lines. However it is true that the Mumbadevi Temple is not as striking as others are in the city.

  • This is also like my home town. N Mumbadevi Mata is like my mother.. So I m Always be comfortable.. feel protective here

  • It's a famous temple in crowded streets of Zaveri bazaar. Always busy with lots of pilgrims. It is a temple of Mumbadevi goddess. Its also one of the famous pilgrin attraction for Hindus.

  • This is a major part of Mumbai's history. Imagine that the whole city is named after the goddess. Actually it is tiny temple in a very crowded hubbub of make shopping area. But once you are inside the small premises, you get the peace, serenity and old world charm of any temple complex.

  • A temple situated in the heart of Mumbai. Mumbai is not complete without Mumbadevi. It is the blessing of the MATA where people’s dream and hard work turns into reality and there is a belief that no people sleep empty stomach.

  • Located in Interiors of Zaveri Bazaar..better to walk down from entry of Zaveri Bazaar. Not crowded even on key days. Darshan should get complete within 10 minutes.
