Powai Lake - Review

The Powai lake is a manmade wonder. The place is situated not too far from the IIT in Mumbai and is truly a bird watcher’s paradise. It may be a little far away from most other typical tourist attractions but is certainly worth the effort especially for nature lovers.

The different creatures seen here are spot-charged duck, little blue kingfisher, white-throated kingfisher, spotted bird, brahminy kite, purple-rumped sunbirds, white carmelized bulbuls, peregrine bird of prey, woolly-necked stork and numerous different types of creatures.  Watching the sunset here is sure to be a memorable experience. Powai Lake has over the years attracted lots of residential complexes around it. It is quite a big deal to be living around this area as it is considered to be one of the most paush areas of the city.

All in all if you want to experience a serene environment and like to gaze deep into the waters, but sea-faces are too crowded for you then Powai Lake is a great option to be at.

Powai Lake, Mumbai Reviews

  • Excellent place to visit in evening in powai. You will find many couple seating and walking around. The place have pleasant weather in evening and you will have your own space. There are some good restaurants in near by area of different budget. Overall my experience was very nice and cozy.

  • This is situated in the Centre of the Powai beside IIT-B. It is very beautiful place where you can seat for a long time. It has great view. In the night its view is amazing. People used to come here for walk and spent time with love one :P. It's crowded with young people in the evening. One can see them kissing and smooching there. =D. But it is the best place far away from daily stress life.

  • A good place for morning and evening walks. There is a path made along the lake to take strolls. You can find crowds of all ages relaxing here.

  • Nice place to hangout in the evenings and mornings. Since the place is near the Hiranandani Powai, the infrastructures are awesome. It has a well made path along the banks of the Powai lake for people to sit and enjoy the scenics. There is some plastic wastes n garbage at one end of the lake, a black spot. Otherwise, with the Sunset and cool breeze, it is mesmerizing.

  • Powai Lake is an artificial lake, situated in Mumbai, in the Powai valley, where a Powai village with a cluster of huts existed. The city suburb called Powai shares its name with the lake. Indian Institute of Technology Bombay, one of the premier institutions of science and technology in India, is located to the east of the lake. Another famous institution, the National Institute of Industrial Engineering (NITIE), is also located close to the lake. Housing complexes and plush hotels are developed all around the lake periphery. Population around the lake has thus substantially increased over the years.
