Munger Fort is situated at top of the hill, on the south side of the bank of river Ganga in the city. Munger was the capital of Mir Qashim (the last independent ruler of India) and the fort bears the history of over 350 years. The main gate of the fort (Lal Darwaza) is the central attraction point; it has a clock at the top of it. Among the four gates of the fort, this gate is only one that is in the original shape. The main building of the fort was destroyed by the British. The modern architects say that the fort is an amalgamation of Buddhist structure and Hindu culture.
