The Old Botanical Gardens were initially created under the orders of King Maximilian in 1814 to serve as his personal grounds for leisure activities. Under the Nazi regime the gardens were converted into a public park and many exotic specimens were added to the park for its beautification purpose. Today the park is a beautiful place in Munich, perfect for a relaxing stroll or a peaceful chat with friends and family. The Neptune Fountain inside is an architectural marvel and there is a playground in the middle to keep the children busy for an hour or so.
