Munich gets long, hot summers and very cold winters with lots of snow. The alps are not far away and winter sport facilities are plentiful. While in summer Munich’s temperatures can easily reach 35 degrees Celsius, in winter it is not uncommon to see temperatures plummet to minus 10 degrees Celsius.
Springtime, summer and, of course autumn, when the Oktoberfest is being held, are the best times to visit, unless you are visiting around the Festive Season, when Munich’s famous Christmas Market is being held.
September-October: This is the coveted time to visit Munich since the city gets immersed in the festivities of Octoberfest. The hotels can be bit expensive during this time though.
December-February: This might not be a good time to visit as the temperatures remain considerably low to explore the city. Though January and December are again good as the Christmas and New Year festivities wrap up the city.
March- May: This is a good time to visit as the city remains warm and spring knocks at the door.
June-August: Temperatures climb up making it bit uncomfortable at times to explore the city.
