Hofbrauhaus - Review

Beer flows like water, sometimes more than water in Germany. This Royal brewery epitomizes the affinity that the people of Munich have towards all that is cold and frothy. Founded by the Duke of Bavaria, Wilhelm V in 1589, this brewery is owned and operated by the government of Bavaria.

Rich in history, this is one of the oldest beer halls in the city and is located at a stone throwaway from the residence of classical legend, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. It is said that Mozart frequented this beer hall during his time and even wrote the famous opera Idomeno after visiting the hall on numerous occasions.

Today, this beer hall is a must visit for all tourists who want to sample some of the finest beers produced in Munich.

Hofbrauhaus, Munich Reviews

  • Beer, Beer and more Beer. The Hofbrau beer is delicious, I am a fan of the original. The atmosphere is great with German music and decorations. The food seems to have become very touristy...it was good, but not amazing. Maybe high output has lost quality? I'm not sure. There's also a gift shop for a memory to take with you.

  • I loved this restaurant. You really feel like you are in Germany when you are here. The beer is good and so was the food. I find the prices very reasonable. The service was amazing! Our waiter was very welcoming and had a great sense of humour. I would recommend coming here earlier as it got very busy around dinner time. We arrived at 4pm and we were able to get a seat outside, which was better (in the summer time) because inside was very hot and stuffy. When most people started arriving at 18 - 19:00 they struggled to find seating.

  • Visited on August during the heatwave. We had an excellent group of people that had taken part in a beer tour. We didn't order food but the beers came fast. Our waiter was very helpful and chatty, even though the place was very busy. For a bit of a quieter dining experience I would recommend heading up to the first floor.

  • The food was good, the beer was great, the service was an issue. The waiter switched up our order to his liking and not ours. I ordered a 1/2 liter beer and he brought me a liter beer. The waiter changed my food order {who wants American hot dogs in Germany}. Watch your wallet and double check your order and STAND firm with what you want. He also tried to scam us for a 5% "service fee". We would have given it 4-5 stars if we a better waiter.

  • The one and only original HofbrĂ€uhaus! It has long been on my bucket list to visit this place and have a beer đŸ»! The atmosphere is fun loud party mode. The halls are huge and family style seating. Pictured is Bavarian Pig Knuckle, a classic of Bavarian cuisine. Visiting is an experience and having a beer is a must. I suggest the Hefeweizen. The food is alright and worth a try. Overall I give HofbrĂ€uhaus MĂŒnchen 4 out 5! Would recommend!
