Thommankuthu Falls - Review

One of the iconic natural attractions of Munnar is Thommankuthu falls. According to the history, this waterfall got its name from Kolumban, a tribal leader who was washed away in this water a decade ago. In recent time, this 1500 meter waterfall has become one of the most favorite spot among travelers and native people. This is primarily because of its jaw-dropping beauty. This seven-step waterfall has pools at each step. Visitors who come over here, take a dip into the cool water of these pools. If you are fond of trekking, then climb up to the top of the mountain. Once you reach there, you will get to see the splendid beauty of the surrounding region. According to the locals, this spot is also popular for bird watching.

  • Thommankuthu waterfalls is famous for its several step waterfalls. It is a well-maintained place and kept very clean. Due to its relatively low water level at certain times, people are allowed to go in the water. During rainy season the water levels are quite high and thereby people aren’t allowed to enter the water. Hiking is also available during apt seasons and guides are also available. Overall a good place to visit with friends and family.

  • Good place to visit during rainy season. The place is near to thodupuzha. Well maintained place and is safe for families. Guards are located at various points. The waterfalls are really nice. Best time to visit is during rainy season. A small trek of around one kilometer is there and is safe for families with kids. The walk way is constructed away from the river so that we can enjoy the beauty of the river and also can walk safely.

  • Scenic location with an awesome waterfall. Close to thodupuzha and the best place to visit in one day. Well-maintained facilities for a safe trip around, but make sure not to get inside the falls, even if you know swimming. The rocks will be slippery, especially during rainy season. Stay in the path marked with handrails. Its recommended to have food before going to the location, as the food options are limited near to the falls.

  • Good for a hike. Out of the 6 mini falls you can only see 2. The place is an ecotourism spot. For the rest you need a guide to accompany you. For 5 people it's about 1800 & these treks are only available in November.

  • It's a good place for family outing. The sight of waterfall and the sounds are quiet soothing and peaceful. The ticket cost of adult is 30rs per person. Toilet and refreshment facility is available. The waterfall is good during rainy season..
