Peribleptos Monastery is a beautiful late-Byzantine-era monastery that was perhaps constructed in the mid-14th century. The frescoes that can be seen in the main church dates between 1340 and 1380 and is a very rare example that is helpful in understanding the Byzantine art. The monastery has been constructed on the side of a cliff that supports the structure and it is the unique variations of the structure both in the interior and the exterior that lends to the exquisite quality of the frescoes that cover the walls. The Peribleptos Monastery is often visited by those who wish to admire the fantastic architecture and the beautiful frescoes.

Very well preserved, beautiful buildings, lots of walking, the cobbled walkways can be slippery. Take water on hot days. Parking is good. Plan to stay long if you want to see everything.
Nice stop on your way up
