Nacogdoches is situated roughly equidistant from Dallas, Houston, and Shreveport, Louisiana, in the center of Deep East Texas. Nacogdoches was the first "town" in Texas. With a population of 33,000, Nacogdoches is home to Stephen F. Austin State University and is surrounded by three national forests.
