The Chott El Jerid is an enormous endorheic salt lake flat sprawling over the southern Tunisia. Meaning the Lagoon of the Land of Palms, this salt flat is actually in shape of a wolf head and under varied sunshine, the hues of the flat change from white to pink, purple to green and so on. This arid region forms the largest area of salt pan in the Sahara Desert and during colder months you can see a narrow tributary having confluence with the lake. The Chott El Jerid can be explored on foot or by car in warmer months and on boat during the winter season. During the nesting time, you can see thousands of Pink Flamingos thriving on the shores.
