Nairobi Gallery - Review

Claimed by the National Museums of Kenya, and housed inside a building that dates back to the year 1913, the Nairobi Gallery is an extremely charming and cozy display centre that has normal workmanship presentations. The main structure is the old Provincial Commissioner's office building which was affectionately alluded to by the name of 'Hatches, Matches and Dispatches' by the pilgrim neighborhood on account of the births and relational unions that were recorded here. For those intrigued by "old Kenya", the Gallery gives a chance for guests to see some of Nairobi's pioneer past dating very nearly 100 years. With wooden entryway and window outlines, the shafts in the top side are the principle point of convergence for this fascinating building. The focal passage is built round with a high domed top side. It makes an impeccable beginning stage for any presentation with 5 rooms heading from it and a wide corridor for additional show space. This special building is right in the heart of Nairobi tucked attentively away and inside the same compound as the Nyayo House. It is well worth a visit and the individuals running the exhibition are greatly inviting and well disposed. The Nairobi Gallery is supervised by the National Museums of Kenya. Different places of investment administered by the Museum incorporate several of the museums and parks of Nairobi, along with the Uhuru Gardens.

Nairobi Gallery, Nairobi Reviews

  • I loved much history and art to see in one small place. And it's so affordable.

  • Well worth a trip to this centrally located spot you've probably driven past 100 times. Essentially a potion of Joseph Murrumbis vast personal collection it offers a glimpse into the early post-independence African art world. Read a bit on Murumbi and Alan Donovan before you go. Beautiful, fascinating...

  • It's a gallery but more like a museum on art pieces&art crafts from all around africa. But i really enjoyed. There is nice cafe inside the compound.

  • I was particularly mesmerised by Murumbi's furniture and jewellery collection. There is also peculiar yet interesting stuff like a gourd made from a camel's stomach! I was given a tour by a really knowledgeable guide. I'd recommend the gallery for visits.

  • Beautiful art. Calm scenery with the perfect hideout coffee shop. Thats where one should go for a cup of coffee coupled with a good book. Once finished, take a tour of the gallery and lose yourself in African history.
