Claimed by the National Museums of Kenya, and housed inside a building that dates back to the year 1913, the Nairobi Gallery is an extremely charming and cozy display centre that has normal workmanship presentations. The main structure is the old Provincial Commissioner's office building which was affectionately alluded to by the name of 'Hatches, Matches and Dispatches' by the pilgrim neighborhood on account of the births and relational unions that were recorded here. For those intrigued by "old Kenya", the Gallery gives a chance for guests to see some of Nairobi's pioneer past dating very nearly 100 years. With wooden entryway and window outlines, the shafts in the top side are the principle point of convergence for this fascinating building. The focal passage is built round with a high domed top side. It makes an impeccable beginning stage for any presentation with 5 rooms heading from it and a wide corridor for additional show space. This special building is right in the heart of Nairobi tucked attentively away and inside the same compound as the Nyayo House. It is well worth a visit and the individuals running the exhibition are greatly inviting and well disposed. The Nairobi Gallery is supervised by the National Museums of Kenya. At the junction of Kenyatta Avenue and Uhuru highway is this breathtaking monument, built in 1913 by the British colonial government and designed by government architect Rand Overy. The building is a display of Victorian Architecture and was used for Native affairs. In the post colonial era it has played a major role as provincial administration offices before the construction of Nyayo house that is adjacent sky scraper. The building now houses unique Pan African cultural collection of Kenya 's second vice president Joseph Murumbi.
I loved it, we went there with a friend and the Tour guide was awesome too. Appreciate how Murumbi kept the cultural collections, this gallery has some of the last remaining visions of true African History
Lots of historical pieces. Showcasing various new talents. Good place for a visit to get a sense of east africa.
