The Ngong Hills are crests forming an edge along the Great Rift Valley, situated southwest and close to Nairobi, in southern Kenya. The saying "Ngong" is an Anglicization of a Maasai phrase "enkong'u emuny", which signifies rhinoceros habitat and this name has been determined from a spring placed close to the Ngong Town. The Ngong Hills, from the eastside slants, border the Nairobi National Park diversion and the city of Nairobi to the north. The Ngong Hills, from the west side slants, flaunt the Great Rift Valley dropping over to 1000 metres (4,000 feet) beneath, where the Maasai villages have been flourishing over the years. The crest of the Ngong Hills reaches the height of 2460 meters (8070 feet) above ocean level. The lone grave of Denys Finch Hatton, checked by a pillar and enclosure, is placed on the eastern slants of the Ngong Hills, overlooking the vast enchanting landscape. There is a strolling trail along the highest points of the Ngong Hills. The Kenya Wildlife Service has a small-spread site at the NE foot of the recreation center. Nearby inhabitants have been frequently holding Sunday church administrations on the southern crest, neglecting the Great Rift Valley. Close to the mounts is the town of Ngong. A naturalistic ranch is adorned upon the mounts. There has been an animated zone and cultivate of late on the northern knolls. However, numerous climbers have reported having being robbed or mugged on the southern mounts in the course of the most recent years. The Kenya Wildlife Service offers guided/security to go with the visitors on their trek for an additional charge.
