This beautiful circular colonnade on top of Montsec Hill (375 metres high) was built by the Americans in 1932 to commemorate the battalions that fought here during the First World War.
The view from here is gorgeous, and looks over Madine Lake and the banks of the Meuse River. It’s only about an hours drive from Nancy, and so is well worth checking out when you’re exploring the country side. Close by, you can also visit the Saint Mihiel American Cemetery, which the third largest American Cemetery in France.
