A museum that was once a Government Office, it used to manufacture silk fabrics for the emperor and the officials of the Qing.
The exterior is built in a classical Chinese style and is quite a contrast to the concrete streets beside it. Inside, there are various exhibitions showcasing silk, qipao dresses and animated artwork.
The Jiangning Imperial Silk Manufacturing Government Office also witnessed the early childhood development of the great writer Cao Xueqin, and its weaving room created the famous and renowned process of cloud-pattern brocade.
This is most definitely a rare find in Nanjing.
