It is a popular square of the city and is accessible through the gates located at the ends of Piron Street on the east and Street Cadeniers in the west. At the center, you get to see the statue of Pierre Cambronne. However, the history says that the square was previously considered as a convent.

The striking feature of the square is the surrounding 16 buildings having neoclassical architectural style. These buildings are built in a typical structure, that is, it has basement (accessible only to the buildings for the course), a first level terrace and two-story Ionic columns and a top floor behind a balustrade. The entrances of these buildings are Cresset Street (north side) and the Heronniere Street (south side).
