Art Deco Trust - Review
What is Art Deco? It’s a culture of architecture and development born in the 1920’s and revived in the mid 20th century. It represents the dawning of the technological age and the faith that the last century put in technology in solving the world’s problems.. and this includes social technology such as the liberation of woman. All these themes are resplendents in the bulding of Napier, and the Trust works to preserve that heritage by sustainin intrerst. That’s why the city is rightly known as the Art Deco Capital Of The World. The trust emphasises the supreme achievement of the city in reviving itself after the devastating earthquake that tore it apart in February 1931. For tourists, the Trust provides the facility of various tours, whether walking, bus or cruise. Check out which one is for you. History lessons don’t get more fun than this.

Art Deco Trust, Napier Reviews
Morning walking tour We chose the morning walking tour which was a total 1.5 hours duration. The first 1/2 hour was spent watching a film about the earthquake in the cinema at the rear of the store. The remaining hour was spent on a guided tour of the town by volunteer guide Leigh. It was really interesting to learn about the history of the town and to be shown the art deco elements of the beautiful buildings of Napier. The tour was over far too quickly - I think we only walked around a block. If I had my time again, I'd take the afternoon tour which is 1 hour longer.
Lovely little shop. Worth visiting and very friendly welcoming staff. Lots of nice items for all pockets.
Best shop. Lots of exciting items to buy. You can even dress up in some Art Deco clothes. You go there to get your tickets for the Art Deco walks
Had an exemplary walking tour with Brocky from the Art Deco Trust. Also some very nice items in the gift shop.
Watched the film about the earthquake in the cinema & at the back & had a guided tour of the town by a volunteer guide Pamela. So interesting learning about the history & being shown which shops/banks had original glass work. Our tour was pretty booked.
