The church was established in 1554, but the structure you see today was completed in 1623. It’s a latin cross structure with a Baroque facade. Inside are many artwork filled chapels and a library. The church was given the status of a minor basilica in 1954. The high altar is particularly ornate, with a sculpture of the Immaculate. Also see the painting of Mary in the sacristy.
