Set against the ever in motion background of the sea in Naples, this lovely castle is worth more than a regard. The medieval castle which has the name egg castle is perhaps the oldest building of its sort in the Naples. Damaged several times, the castle has in a way lived up to its name as the egg castle.
The building is now mostly used for exhibitions and events. Although one cannot go in unless for an exhibitions, which are certainly unique and interesting, it is worthwhile to visit the fort for spectacular views of the bay of Naples. Quite an interesting place to visit, do add it to your tour of the bay of Naples.

Castel Dell Ovo, Naples Reviews - Write a Review
Amazing piece of history. Great views on the sea. The experience would be over the top if there was animation during the visit. Maybe guides in period outfits.
This place is free for you to walk around when it's open and again, it was better than some museums in Rome where they charge 15€. You're right on the ocean so it's gusty and it feels like you could be on a big ship headed for adventure. There are all sorts of winding paths and little nooks to explore. Highly recommend.
I thought I’d get to see inside some rooms in the castle, but instead it was just a lot of walking through outside corridor areas and then looking or from the top. It was definitely anticlimactic. It seems like everyone is rating it really high because of the views of Naples, and because it’s free? But in my opinion - you can get just as much view from the street, and save the time. Call me crazy - but I would have considered seeing the INSIDE of the castle necessary to give this a 5 star review. Without that... it isn’t more than 2.
Impressive castle. We were here on a slightly overcast day with some rain and it really helped with the atmosphere. There is a lift on the ground floor to save you some walking but it is nice to walk around and peer out of each window.
Amazing panoramic views of Naples and surrounding towns. Even better it's free and right across the street from a main hotel the Royal Continental Hotel. I don't think you would spend more than an hour here. They use the location for events and exhibitions.
