Set against the ever in motion background of the sea in Naples, this lovely castle is worth more than a regard. The medieval castle which has the name egg castle is perhaps the oldest building of its sort in the Naples. Damaged several times, the castle has in a way lived up to its name as the egg castle.
The building is now mostly used for exhibitions and events. Although one cannot go in unless for an exhibitions, which are certainly unique and interesting, it is worthwhile to visit the fort for spectacular views of the bay of Naples. Quite an interesting place to visit, do add it to your tour of the bay of Naples.
Also, visit nearby attractions which are covered in Naples itinerary 7 days.
- You can only see the castle from the outside unless you are going for an exhibition.
- Ticket Prices for the exhibitions vary.
- Entry is free.
- On Sundays and other public holidays the opening time is later at 9am and closes in the early afternoon, around 1pm depending on the season.
- By rented car from city centre.
- Ristorante Ciro

Great opportunity to see an ancient fortress an to learn about history of the city and the port. Building is in a really good condition. Inside it some contemporary art exhibitions take place. The view from the fortress is amazing! Nice place and absolutely must see being in Naples
A lovely coastal walk from the heart of Naples round the bay then rewarded with an unexpected treat. There are stylish hotels, fabulous scenery and a small medieval castle on the promontary to explore, what more could you ask of a day ashore in a stunning city. This place has a very Game of Thrones vibe even though it wasn't featured. If you want to climb to the top it's steep but gentle and if you are less mobile there is an elevator at the bottom of the stairs. Just so you don't miss out.
The castle itself is not particularly impressive, it does have large, mighty walls, but its interior is almost empty and many rooms are closed. But if you look at the highest point of the castle, you can admire a very beautiful panorama. You can see all Napoli, airport and harbor. It's worth it to do all the stairs, believe me.
Lots to see and many beautiful views from this castle. It is also a better deal than the other caste close to the theater. I recommend going to the other one and then this one so you end with the better castle.
Very casual place. Lots of spots to take great photos and to just hang out to relax. Outside there are lots of food choices. Wear good shoes and bring water. You may hire a tour guide right outside if you would like to learn more and take your time.
