Why does this alace convey such a strong sense of grief and melancholy. It could be any one of the following reasons. The most innocent suspect is the location, for the palace is practically on a peninsula, and that can get quite atmospheric. Or it could be the dilapidated state, for the entire structure seems to be crumbling away into the water. Perhaps it’s the story of how the first owner’s husband, Ramiro Guzman,  abandoned her to run back to Spain. It’s probably all of these. It’s worth driving out to see.
