This reserve is located in the northern part of the Gulf Coast of Florida. This is undoubtedly one of the very few places that still have the unexploited mangrove wetlands in the North America. This place is protected by the Florida Department of Environment Protection.

Here you will not only find serenity and beauty of the rawness of nature but there are quite a number of migratory birds and rare and endangered species of animals. Here they conserve them in the estuarine habitat where they survive the best. A trip to this place at least once will surely mesmerize you for a long time.

  • Such a great place to visit with the kids or just adults for some great information on the animals in the area. The staff was beyond friendly and informative. It's not a big place as far as inside exhibits but well worth your time. Nice places to walk outside but hot and wet on the trails while we were there.

  • Love this place! Free Fridays for kids over the summer is worth it! Touch tanks, giant mosquitoes, activities, gift shop, science stops, photo ops, local art, a bridge walkover, and a great friendly staff! You won't be disappointed!

  • Liked interactive tank where we could touch the sea creatures. Be sure to watch the movie. Don't miss the exhibits upstairs. Insect repellent is helpful during mosquito season. Walk outside over the bridge. The children loved it.!

  • This was a beautiful place but not quite what I expected. Be prepared to read a lot lol. The hands on wasn't really open so we didn't get to do that. I think I went on the day kids are free so it wasn't to big of a loss but next time I will go to the zoo so I don't have to read so much, I'm more of a looker when it comes to creatures and museums. I am however happy to support them and even got a bumper sticker to help.

  • This place is a gem! Staff, kind and responsive to Children's questions and enthusiasm . The center was hands on for the young ones...and there was a little boat, indoors that was keen! Plenty of picnic tables outside....so pack a snack. The trails were well kept, and we spotted several interesting things along the way. Thank you Rookery Bay Environmental Learning Center !
