You may not be a great fan of country music but do you support raw talent? If you want to feel intimate music from well-known artists then trust me it’s at Bluebird Café. Songwriters are storytellers and the Bluebird Café is haven for them. All genres of music are performed here. It is known as a listening room based on the acoustics which is their signature style.
On any given night you will find the following artistes:
- LeAnn Rimes
- John Prine
- Jojo Herman
- Widespread Panic
- Billy Kirsch
- Carrie Underwood
Founder Amy Kurland opened the doors of The Bluebird Cafe in June 1982. Kurland planned The Bluebird Cafe to be a gourmet restaurant. She wanted her patrons to enjoy a hearty meal and listen to live music. She added a small sage which would later host some of the world’s greatest songwriters.
Open Mic Nights were added to The Bluebird's schedule. You can sing on stage to your heart’s desire. Nightly performance has three or four song writers seated in the centre of the room. They take turns playing their songs and accompanying each other on instruments.
- Reservations are made online ONLY.
- There is a USD 2.50 (+tax) non-refundable service fee per person.
- Too much conversation distracts listeners and is disrespectful to the songwriters.
- You can talk before the show, between sets and after the show.
- During performances please keep talking to a minimum.
- All ages are welcome, but you have to be 21 plus to sit at the bar.

Kept hearing we needed to check out the Bluebird Cafe when in Nashville. So we did. You must register ahead of time since there is minimal walk-in seating. A small, quaint establishment tucked away in an ordinary strip mall. Song writers, up and coming musicians in a small, intimate environment. Very cool place to visit!
This was my first visit and it was for a private event by an investment company. I'll start out saying it was a home run! Three segments, dinner, investment presentation, music. The dinner was quite good, buffet style. I won't list every thing. Two entrées, salmon and pork. Both good, well prepared and cooked, tasty. Salad that had, among other things, toasted pecans and dried fruit. Delicious! A couple of sides as well as desserts. Note:This is a tiny place in a strip mall! The presentation followed and was excellent but is not relevant to my review here. Then Dylan Altman, Marshall Altman, Gabe Dixon performed. What a treat! Excellent music and some humor to add to the fun. It was a wonderful experience.
One of the most to do things in Nashville. Be sure to make an online reservation. It is a listening room meaning you are not supposed to talk while they are performing. They do corporate events and sell t shirts with the logo on it. And to confirm- this is the place from the TV show.
Great, intimate venue - we had so much fun! They include as many guests as possible, so seating is a bit tight, and it does sell out very quickly. Be sure to go to their website to make reservations before going.
Love this place we were here for an event The song writers were amazing. The staff was amazing! Food and entertaining was all great
