Bluebird Cafe - Review
You may not be a great fan of country music but do you support raw talent? If you want to feel intimate music from well-known artists then trust me it’s at Bluebird Café. Songwriters are storytellers and the Bluebird Café is haven for them. All genres of music are performed here. It is known as a listening room based on the acoustics which is their signature style.
On any given night you will find the following artistes:
- LeAnn Rimes
- John Prine
- Jojo Herman
- Widespread Panic
- Billy Kirsch
- Carrie Underwood
Founder Amy Kurland opened the doors of The Bluebird Cafe in June 1982. Kurland planned The Bluebird Cafe to be a gourmet restaurant. She wanted her patrons to enjoy a hearty meal and listen to live music. She added a small sage which would later host some of the world’s greatest songwriters.
Open Mic Nights were added to The Bluebird's schedule. You can sing on stage to your heart’s desire. Nightly performance has three or four song writers seated in the centre of the room. They take turns playing their songs and accompanying each other on instruments.

Bluebird Cafe, Nashville Reviews
An absolute must do in Nashville. All the acts were phenomenal - great raw talent. It is a small, intimate and cozy atmosphere to enjoy amazing music. The food and bar are simple but done well. Don’t leave Nashville without coming here. TIP: order your tickets in advance. The waits are quite competitive to get a spot.
My review is based on the Staff and Procedures used for those who visit this well known landmark, without a reservation... Those with Reservations lineup to the Left of the front door... Those without, lineup to the Right of the front door... Usually 20-30 without reservations are allowed seats, based on availability. Typical wait times are and hour to two, in order to be allowed unreserved seating... Undoubtedly there will be many who do not get in and the Staff should have consistent procedures in place... One of the Staff came out and announced that they would allow us in to hear one song, any picture taking during that song and souvenir purchase at the register... That Staff Member took folks inside in the order that they were in Line... Not long after that, another Staff Member came out and asked those wanting to go in, to move to the Left of the door, which gave many at the end of the Line, the chance to go inside first... We moved over to that other Line, now at the back of the Line, and then waited longer to get inside for the Song & Photo Opp... That same Staff Member was the one who took us inside and after buying a souvenir, were told to move on and leave, without hearing one... If I were alone, I would have also missed the opportunity to take Photos... Other than showing a little more kindness, the Staff should think about coming outside and offering or selling cold water or perhaps an umbrella to those waiting outside for two hours in the heat... Lesson learned, make a Reservation!
This experience was absolutely worth the wait in line for the first come first serve seats (we couldn't get through the lottery). Intimate setting, beautiful music - unexpected location. I would add to your must see list- and I've never even seen Nashville!
Unfortunately we could not enter 'Cause it was full but the guy at the door was so nice and let us see the inside. There was a very good atmosphere while the singers were playing and everybody was so quite. Loved it. I wish we could have stayed.
Just amazing. The musicians we're engaging in a way that i haven't come across in any venue in any genre anywhere else. The waitresses and bar staff were on point and the selection very good. We actually had to queue to get in and of recommend it as you meet some really interesting folks.
