Tootsies Orchid Lounge - Review
It's a must-stop bar, blasting country songs that needs to be a part of your bar crawl. Tootsie's World Famous Orchid Lounge is a Honky Tonk bar located in Nashville. Honky Tonk bar provides country music for entertainment to its patrons. The bar is saturated with the enchanting colour of purple, representing an orchid. Tootsie’s covers modern day country music and other popular Heavy Metal and Industrial. The top floor has an outdoor patio. From here you get an awesome 360 view of Downtown Nashville.
Originally named Mom's, Tootsie Bess bought the bar in 1960. It was changed to Tootsie’s Orchid lounge because of its purple colour. She was known to slip 5’s and 10’s into luckless writers’ pockets. She even had a cigar box full of IOU’s for the hungry writers and pickers.
You can't go home without having stopped in at this piece of music history. Notable works include:
- Memorabilia of the past and present individuals who have influenced country music.
- Plastered on the walls are pictures of publicity stills of the great, and the hopefuls.
- Pictures include the likes of Hank Williams Sr, Patsy Cline and Willie Nelson.

Tootsies Orchid Lounge, Nashville Reviews
Out of all the bars in this area, this was our favourite. Has a nice rooftop patio and friendly staff. They are attentive and make sure you’re not waiting long for your drink. It’s a basic bar, and we didn’t try the food. It had good music and sound was good. Will be back soon!
I feel like you really need to be drunk to enjoy the atmosphere here. What is very cool is it's three separate levels all having a different band. One level actually had two bands on the same level which was kind of odd and the music interferes with each other as there was one inside and one on the rooftop. There were so many Bridal parties you really couldn't hear the music only the obnoxious girls screaming and trying to sing. we had gone here during the day and thought we were really excited to go back in the evening but when we went back in the evening we quickly left.
Great rooftop bar with live music & views of the action on Broadway Street. Go here for a drink & great country music! Take the stairs all the way to the top and grab a table outside. We love sitting outside and watching the crowds walk down Broadway Street - while sipping a cocktail & enjoying some of the best live music in the area.
Nashville landmark on Broadway. Three floors of bars with love music on every level. Good vibe. I've visited Tootsie each time I've visited Nashville and have never been disappointed. Well worth a visit when on the strip in Nashville.
I was told this us the place you have to visit when in Nashville, it's a classic. Tootsies is one of if not the oldest bars on Broadway. The music was great, no cover, expensive drinks and great wall decorations. I spent most of my time there looking at the posters and plaques. The place was packed. I had to squeeze my way to the rooftop so I could breath. Like most places on Broadway, they have some steep stairs to get to each floor.
