Cornelius Vanderbilt had a vision. He gave $1 million to create a university in 1873. His vision was to establish ties between all sections of the country and strengthen it. Today that vision has been fulfilled in Vanderbilt University. It is an internationally recognised research university in Nashville with strong bonds with the community.
