Deolali is a small but quaint hill station and a census town in Nasik famous for sanatoriums, temples and Buddhist caves. It is among the oldest and important Indian military centres. Deolali is a perfect destination to spend some quality time in natural surroundings.

While one might be deterred to visit the area considering it has the tag ‘camp’ attached to it – calm down! The entire camp area is surrounded by gardens, spacious roads and playgrounds. A sizeable population of Nasik resides there.

The camp was established by the British in 1861 as a military psychiatric hospital and was then used as the departure and arrival ground for troops. There are quite a few attractions that one can pay a visit to when at the camp, including Temple Hill, Khandobachi Tekadi which is known for a temple dedicated to Lord Khandoba as well as the famous Deolali market. The Gliding Club is one of the main highlights of the area – a fun activity for anyone above age of 10 years.
