The Pandavleni caves are a group of 24 caves which were carved between the 3rd and 2nd Century AD. This is definitely a beautiful place to visit. There are quite a few mountaineers and trekkers who frequent the place, especially during the early morning hours. There are steps which lead to the caves. However, some caves are interconnected by stone-cut ladders. While some caves are quite large and possess a few chambers within, there are some which are smaller and intimate. The main cave or the ‘Chaitya’ (prayer hall) is the best of all the caves as it has a beautiful Stupa located within.

Interesting sculptures can be found within. In fact, these viharas served as the meeting ground for a group of Buddhist disciples who would share sermons and meet one another. There are water tanks which have been carved out of the solid rock – a reason why the site has an excellent water management system.

Pandavleni Caves Reviews & Ratings

  • Every place out there seems similar and we actually can't find any differences in them. Every room is similar. Govt. should have maintained it well and should have given due attention. Still the carving work is very much good and awesome. It proves the carving and designing skills of the men at that time. Overall a good place but if you go there to see each place and room you will feel bored and you eventually get nothing out of it.

  • Excellent place.. Very Clean... Well maintained by the managements.. nice location.. wonderful view... just one thing those who are young can easily go due to 675 steps to reach the destination.. one thing need to improve by management is create Water facility, which is not available there..

  • It's quite a good place to bring your family and friends on weekend. This place has got a historic value, quite wonderful location to be visit. It can be visited throughout a year, much greenery big rocks will catch your attention. Mostly its crowded during all the season. Once you visit this place you will wish to visit it again. And one thing I forgot to mention that one should carry enough water with you because water facility is not available here..

  • One stop for historical lovers. Best place to visit in winters. One can enjoy the nature and surrounding while climbing. Scenic view from above. Don't forget to carry water bottles and another stuff, since you can't get anything up.

  • If you know history then you'll most probably know about this place. You have to take a step climb of steps to reach here. You'll get an awesome view of while Nashik city from the top. Just don't go here if it's rainy. Most of the caves will remain close and it's a bit dangerous.
